I then discovered later a dead bird in the lantern with its head pecked in, eyes gone, and very bloody! I assume I thought it was my resident bird but then another bird came and landed on the lantern’s rim while the bird inside the lantern continued violently pecking at something. So I looked again and I watched through my kitchen window as “a bird” in the lantern was obviously pecking and tearing and eating at something. Yesterday morning, Yesterday morning, “she” was still in the lantern long after the time she would normallyīe gone in the morning.
